The Zero Hunger Schools Program

The Zero Hunger in Schools Program is an initiative by the United Nations Association of Australia (NSW Division), Capgemini and the Local Community Services Association.

The program aligns with SDG 2: Zero Hunger and SDG: 12 Responsible Consumption & Production, and aims to divert good food and other items from landfill to children and families in need.

The program involves connecting donors with local schools and community centres, where children and families in need are often identified, through a digital solution called Yum Yum, which facilitates arrangements for pick up or delivery.

This project led me to be invited to the United Nations Australia (NSW Division) gala dinner and conference.

Packaging

Another one of our design prototypes is a recyclable and reusable lunchbox package that is intended for companies and businesses to get involved and pack food that can be delivered to schools and students. The special shape of the packaging allows these businesses to pack the box like they would pack lunch for their child going to school. Using this we intend to create an emotional connection with businesses and students. Additionally, the box is designed in a bright and unique way to give students an exciting and memorable experience which will make them not feel ashamed of collecting food at school.

Mascot

To connect the users with the campaign, we decided to create an apple that has been personalised with eyes and a mouth. This friendly fellow appears on different marketing materials including; packaging, social media posts and more. Additionally, we have created merchandise of the character which students can receive alongside their food.
